After 14 years of planning and construction, the museum has finally received a brand new building in 2022. The museum boasts a vast collection of Norwegian Romantic Nationalism movement paintings, including the world-famous “The Scream” and “Madonna” by Edvard Munch. Other Norwegian masters like the sculptor Julius Middelthun and the painters J. C. Dahl, Erik Werenskiold, and Christian Krohg are also prominently features within its walls. Apart from the imposing domestic heritage, one can also admire works by Gauguin, Picasso, El Greco, and the impressionists during the visit.
